Rollify Beyond Documentation
This document provides a comprehensive overview of Rollify Beyond's features and services, explaining how to make the most of our platform for your tabletop RPG sessions.
Main Functionality
Rollify Beyond consists of three main components: the DM Dashboard, the Character Sheet, and the Character Sheet. These components live inside a campaign.
The Campaign
Campaigns are the foundation of Rollify Beyond. When you create an account and log in, your Dashboard provides access to all of your campaigns.
Creating a Campaign
You can select a template (or more commonly referred to as a system) for your campaign. Templates provide a ready-to-use setup with appropriate character sheet structures, saving you time on setup. For Premium users, templates also provide pre-made assets for your campaign.
Currently, the campaign templates available are:
- Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition
- Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition
- Ordem Paranormal (only for the Portuguese language)
When creating a campaign with the D&D template, for example, your campaign will be created with all the information necessary to run a D&D game. Think of templates as a plug & play system: there is no need to waste time setting up your campaign, it is ready to be used. Alternatively, you can also create an empty campaign and set it up as you wish.
The GM Panel
The GM Panel provides a range of features that help you manage your campaign and its characters. In the GM Panel, you can:
- Manage characters: Add, delete, hide and share characters.
- Manage script: A place to record the general script of the campaign, as well as a place to record your sessions, documents and notes.
- Manage Combat: Organize players and NPCs into a combat list and create temporary NPCs (called Dolls).
- Access Chat: Roll dice and share information through Chat.
- Access Soundboard: Play music and sound effects in real time for your players. This feature is NOT available on mobile devices.
- Cast Signals: As a companion feature to Portrait, signals help you activate a condition for all characters with just one click. For example, when characters enter combat, you might want to cast a signal to activate a "combat" condition and change everyone's avatar at the same time.
Script, Sessions, Documents, and Notes (and upgrade)
These components of the GM Panel serve as a unified place to store all of your campaign information.
If you are a Premium user, you can also use the "Upgrade" feature, which uses AI to generate content for your session based on your instructions. The AI has access to your script and all your sessions, as well as relevant documents and characters, as well as notes. This way, the AI can effortlessly generate content tailored specifically for your session.
The Character Sheet Editor
Basically, character sheets in Rollify Beyond are like a Lego game: you fit different components together to build a custom character sheet. Each component has a specific function, allowing you to build a character sheet that perfectly meets the needs of your RPG system. The components that define a character sheet are:
-
Details: These are text fields that can be organized into sections. There are two types of text fields:
-
Paragraph: For short, one-line texts, such as name, age, class, etc.
-
Prose: For long texts that need multiple lines, such as character history, notes, etc.
A detail can be designated as an item modifier, which means that its value can be used by items to perform item rolls.
-
Avatars: These are images that represent the character visually. There are two types of avatars:
-
Main Avatar: The main image that represents the character on the character sheet and in the Portrait
-
Alternate Avatar: A secondary image that can be activated through conditions
Avatars can be customized with visual effects and can change automatically based on the character's active conditions. For example, a character can have a normal avatar and another for when in combat, or another for when their health is below half.
-
Vitals: These are bars that represent numerical statistics of the character that change during the game, such as:
-
Hit Points/Health
-
Mana/Magic Slots
-
Sanity
-
Other resources that need to be tracked
Each vital bar has a customizable name and color.
-
Conditions: These are states that can be applied to the character, such as:
-
Stunned
-
Poisoned
-
Frightened
Conditions can be enabled or disabled and can have visual effects on the character's avatar.
-
Tests: These are numerical values that represent the character's base characteristics. Tests have a value and a modifier, and a Test can be designated as an item modifier, which means that its value or modifier can be used by items to perform item rolls.
-
Items: These are objects that the character owns, such as:
-
Equipment
-
Spells
-
Skills
-
Inventory
Items can have their own details and can use modifiers to perform specific rolls.
All of these components work together to create a complete and functional character sheet. The Editor allows you to organize these components into different layouts, add or remove sections, and customize each element to fit your game system.
Premium users have access to a complete list of items based on your campaign's template.
The Character Sheet Editor - Character Sheets
You can create different character sheets with different components. This allows you to create completely independent character sheets that function differently. For example:2
- A character sheet for player characters with all the necessary components for a player
- A simplified character sheet for NPCs with only the essential components
- A character sheet specifically for monsters with a focus on combat stats
- A character sheet for vehicles or mounts with unique components
Each character sheet can have its own layout, its own components, and its own rules. You can even create character sheets specifically for different classes or character types within the same system.
Character sheets are completely independent of each other, which means you can have characters using different character sheet templates in the same campaign. This is especially useful when you need to manage different types of entities in your game.
Character Sheet
The Character Sheet uses the component system described above to create an intuitive and functional interface. In it, you can:
- View and edit all of your character's details
- Manage vital bars such as health, mana, and other resources
- Activate and deactivate conditions that affect your character
- Perform attribute and skill tests
- Manage items, equipment, and skills
- Make dice rolls directly from the sheet
- Access your character's roll history
- Customize the appearance and organization of components
Each section of the sheet is organized logically, allowing quick access to the most important information during the game. Components can be rearranged and customized according to your preferences and system needs.
Dice Rolling
Rollify Beyond wouldn't be a TTRPG application without dice rolling support, right? On the character sheet and the GM panel, you can perform numerous types of dice rolls that will be crucial for an immersive and fun session.
Rollify Beyond uses the RPG Dice Roller as its API to compute dice rolls. For more information, visit its Documentation. For simplicity, we can define the rolling system as follows:
ndl: Roll n l-sided dice (e.g. 2d20, 1d10)
The n can be omitted if rolling a single die (e.g. d20)
Mathematical operations supported:
1d20+5
2d6*2
3d10/2
(1d20+4)/2
Available operators: + - * /
The Portrait
The Rollify Portrait is a service dedicated to streamers who want to bring Rollify Beyond to their viewers. It displays a small portrait of your character that shows in real time the changes your players make to their character sheet. The changes that Rollify Portrait tracks are:
-
Avatar Change: The Portrait detects when an alternate avatar is activated and changes the avatar accordingly.
-
Vitals Change: The character's name is replaced by the vitals for a short moment to show the changes in the vital bars.
-
Dice Rolls: The portrait loses focus to make room for a die that shows the result to the viewers simultaneously. The player finds out the result of the roll at the same time as the viewers.
For Basic plan users, an ad with the Rollify Beyond Logo appears every three minutes and stays on the screen for ten seconds.
The Portrait Editor
The Portrait Editor offers several settings to make your portrait unique. Each character Portrait can be edited individually.
The settings fields are reflected directly in the portrait on the right, which displays a preview.
Real-time updates are not available in the editor.
